WAVA’s Pre-departure Briefings
Come and find out more about your WAVA programme, talk to the team, meet other participants,
and ask us any questions that you need to know before you go.
Why attend a Pre-departure briefing?
We strongly recommend that you attend these briefings, as they are an integral part
of the WAVA service, and the perfect way for you to find out everything you need
to know.
- Meet other volunteers who in some cases, will be going to the same project as you
- Ask as many questions as you like and get answers from an experienced team member
- Get reassurance about what to do if you run into difficulties or if something goes
wrong
- Gain peace of mind by meeting our experienced and knowledgeable team
- Parents can speak to any member of our team and share their worries with other parents!
- ...plus enjoy the generous buffet provided by our local catering partner "FEAST"

with you (up to two people)*.
How to find us
Our Pre-Departure briefings will be held in the newly refurbished social area of
our offices in Lewisham - 67-71 Lewisham High Street, London SE13 5JX

We hold these briefings every six weeks on a Thursday. You will be invited to the
Pre-Departure briefing that corresponds to the date you will be travelling on.

* Note: Pre-departure briefings are open to fully booked and paid volunteers and
their companions only. The content of these briefings is tailored exclusively to
travellers who have booked our international volunteering programmes. Prospective
volunteers, or volunteers who have paid a deposit but not the remaining balance
are not eligible to attend. If you have paid a deposit only and are expecting to
leave in one of the departure windows above, please contact your Travel Advisor
to settle payment and obtain your invitation to the briefing.
